I know this pack was creating for running + fastpacking...however, I use it for everything. I've had my pack since these packs came out 2+ years ago + it's still going strong. The fabric stretching but strong [still haven't damaged it, even with trekking poles + remote adventures]. Loosening up the side straps gives you a lot of flexibility with how much you can fit into the pack.
As example of just how much you can fit + how comfortable this pack is --- I used this as my only pack for a 6 day/80 mile trip around Torres del Paine. The pack had space for my tent, sleeping bag, rain gear, clothing + other essentials. It was comfortable + survived the whole trip with zero complaints on my part. Even better -- it was small enough to be considered a carry on bag with the airlines.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this pack. I've also used the Fastpack 20. As a tall, slender female with a longer torso...the Fastpack 30 fit so much better on my back. It also fits better if you have reasonable weight in the pack. Heidi on Apr 6th 2017
This pack is genius!! Ive used several times now since I got it and I could not be happier with it!! It so sticky icky is rad. Meaning I've gone running with it and it NOT bother some. It stays nice and put against your body making a smooth run. I absolutely love the front pockets!!! Me being a blade guy I love that it has the option of both blade and bottles. Honestly what I am getting at is that if you are thinking about getting this well if you don't you would be a turd for not sendin it because simple enough you will NOT regret!! This pack rocks.. my husband and I both love it! It is weightless and amazing! The only problem is, it is very difficult to get to the bladder. I have a One Direction bladder as well. However the pack is so amazing, it is a minor compromise. Unknown on Jun 2nd 2016
The pack is great! Except I need to either pack fabric-stuff (fleeces, hats, etc) in a ditty bag or take extreme care when removing/inserting into the pack due to the velcro on the edges on the roll-down part of the bag. In practice, I get why the velcro is there, but in reality, it's terrible. It damages clothing and scratches skin. This is trail clothing I'm talking about, but who wants a technical piece of gear scratched up unnecessarily?
So I had the idea to cut the thread holding the velcro in place, which I've been known to do on other pieces with poorly placed scratch-magnets. Buuuut....the velcro cannot be removed without also cutting the threads which hold the pack together! Bad planning. Time for a refresh, UD? Unknown on Apr 5th 2016
i have used several UD products over the years: water bottles, handhelds, PB adventure vest and have loved them all. My collection was expanded to include the 30L fastpack recently and I couldn't be happier with it. The first time I used it, I ran to the store for groceries and back. The load I was carrying was probably too large and heavy for it, but it still carried the load effectively. The pack has multiple stash pockets on the shoulder straps and a HUGE roll top main compartment. When loading it down with gear it will hold eveything you need for days of activity; whether it's climbing and needing shoes, rope, harness, etc.; or hiking/ fastpacking and carrying enough food, water and camping supplies. The pack in the nature of running does bounce a little; however, I have found that by correcting the position of my back and keeping my shoulders straight allowed the pack to form to my back more effectively. Overall it's an amazing pack to add to any collection and you will be proud and glad you made the purchase. Michael on Feb 7th 2015
